On the PS4 Serial number: The serial number is 11 characters long. It begins with the letters “MB” and ends with 9 numbers and is located in the lower left of the bottom of the system. In the example below, the serial number is in the blue box and is MBXXXXXXXXX.
Help finding serial number for Vita - posted in Vita / PSP: So my serial number sticker fell off and I didn't realize it. I don't have the box, as I just moved and I'm thinking it got tossed in the shuffle. I've read a few places online that others have the same problem with the serial number sticker falling off. I called Sony and they have my info and serial number on file, because I sent it. If the physical serial number is no long available or is scratched and faded, the serial number can be pulled from the command prompt: Open the Start Menu and type “cmd”. Open the program and type “wmic bios get serialnumber”.
This is just a brief update on how to land a PS4 on 5.05 firmware, this updated post is not much different on what I wrote a couple of weeks ago but it could help those that are looking to land a unit on 5.05 or below since it will be the golden FW.
Now that we know that FW 5.05 will be the new golden FW to be on (once the rest of it gets released) the race continues to get a console on 5.05. The update was made live on Jan 28, 2018. Whatever route you decide to go make sure you check your local pawnshops also, and as I said before asking for the oldest console that was pawn instead of the most recent to strengthen your chances.
When buying used or new another give away is the little booklet that comes with discounts when you first purchase a PS4. If you look at the expiration date and if it’s expired like a year or two ago then you know you may have a unit on a old firmware. Just another hint that may seal the deal.
You can also guarantee the shop that if they find what you looking for you will also purchase it. I manage to pick up a launch unit brand new from a Japanese game shop a week ago, they were kind enough to open it up and check the firmware before I bought the console, but again not everyone is generous enough to do that. Lucky for me it was on 3.15.

Below I posted my PS4 that I bought from a game shop, you can’t tell by the serial numbers but you can tell by the date of when it was manufactured-which implies 1215A-meaning December 2015. Firmware 3.15 was on the console, but 3.11 FW was released on November 8, 2015, and 3.15 was released January 13, 2016. So it was a hit and miss but either way, any of those FW’s would’ve been ok.
Since 5.05 was released around January 2018, your best bet would be to get anything before a January manufacture date just to be safe, new units that are being pushed out now are not guaranteed to be on a lower firmware since some have said they got a unit with 5.07 FW on them. So make sure you follow the manufacture date which is the two digit month and the two-digit year on the sticker, and then look up the firmware history at the link below and match up the date of the firmware and the sticker. For example, if the firmware of the console you looking for came out after the manufacture date of the console or bundle then you should be ok.
Also If you ordered one from a website brand new or picked one up from a store, make sure you check there return policy. I managed to return an opened switch back to target a couple of months ago the day after, Gamestop has a great return policy as well as BestBuy but GameStop is not a place to look for used PS4’s as they update all units before they resell them. As always happy hunting!!
God of war PS4 pro edition comes with 4.73 as mentioned by a couple Reddit members but others came with a higher firmware. You can find them on Amazon or PlayAsia and the links are below.

- If you want to play PSVR games on your PS5, you’ll need a special PlayStation Camera adaptor.
- On Wednesday, Sony began taking requests for the adaptors, which it will be giving away for free to all PSVR owners. All you need to do is enter a serial code.
- Sony has yet to announce a PlayStation VR 2, but rumors suggest that one is in the works.
Four years ago, Sony went out on a limb and brought virtual reality to console gaming with the PlayStation VR. Well, the gambit paid off, as the seemingly niche accessory has since sold over 5 million units. There have been more than a few great games on the PSVR over the past four years, from Rez Infinite to Iron Man VR, but just because the PS4 generation is coming to a close, that doesn’t mean you have to pack up your headset. The upcoming PS5 supports PlayStation VR, but if you want to play VR games, you’ll need a special adapter from Sony.
The good news is that Sony is currently giving the adaptor away on its website free of charge.
In order to play PSVR games on your PS5, you’ll need to use the PlayStation Camera. Unfortunately, that camera is not compatible with the PS5 by default, which is why you have to use a special adaptor to connect it. Sony is selling the new HD Camera alongside the PS5 in November, but that camera won’t work with PSVR.

In order to request this free adaptor, head to this page on the PlayStation support site, enter your PSVR serial number (which you can find on the back of the Processor Unit), and then provide personal information, such as your shipping address, so that Sony can send you the adaptor when it becomes available in your region.

Personally, I couldn’t get the serial number on my PSVR to work, so there might still be some kinks that the company is working out. After all, this is the first day that Sony had opened requests for the adaptor.
Virtually every PSVR game should work with the PS5 once you have the adaptor connected, but two titles — DWVR and Robinson: The Journey — have been confirmed to be unplayable. If you want to play either of these games, you will have to do so with your PS4, as they seemingly won’t ever work on the PS5.

The fact that Sony is going to such lengths to bring PSVR fans into the new generation suggests that a new model is likely in the works, but there haven’t been any official announcements yet. Sony is clearly more focused on selling as many PlayStations as it can this holiday season before it starts trying to sell multi-hundred dollar accessories. The PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition will both launch in the US on November 12th.
